Thome To Get Statue Outside Progressive Field

Oct 18, 2014 4:44 AM

Veteran Jim Thome never fathomed he would get a statue of himself outside a big league stadium.

The Indians will unveil one of their longtime slugger this summer at Progressive Field, according to an MLB.com report.

"It's going to be pretty awesome," Thome said. "How do you ever imagine when you play this game, getting an opportunity to have an organization put a statue up? I'm a little lost for words, to be honest. As a player, I don't even want to say you dream of that."

Aubrey Huff Retires, Joins Pac-12 Network

Oct 31, 2014 11:44 AM

Aubrey Huff has officially retired from baseball and will pursue a career in broadcasting with Pac-12 Networks, he told MLB Daily Dish.

Huff told Chris Cotillo he has "no desire to play anymore" and he is "officially done" after a 13-year Major League career that featured stints with five different clubs. He was most recently with the Giants from 2010-12, where he won both of his World Series titles.

"I couldn't even imagine picking up a bat and trying to get ready for the whole grind of a baseball season anymore," Huff told Cotillo. "I'm enjoying this way too much, just hanging out."
